Continue Arcades Opens New Taunton Location, Bringing Retro and Modern Gaming to East Street

Continue Arcades has announced the opening of a second location in East Street, Taunton. Expanding its ‘free play’ gaming experience to the Somerset town. Following the success of its Plymouth flagship, the new location similarly offers a blend of classic and contemporary gaming, aiming to provide an entertainment venue for all ages.
The new location features a comprehensive selection of arcade machines, including retro titles such as Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Street Fighter IV, alongside modern games and pinball machines. The arcade’s business model allows patrons to pay a single entry fee, £13 for adults (16+), £10 for children aged 4-15, and free entry for children under 4, granting unlimited access to all games. This structure is designed to encourage extended play and a relaxed gaming environment.
Austin Wood, the founder of Continue Arcades, established the venture with a focus on community and accessible entertainment. Wood’s vision, inspired by his time in the United States, aimed to revitalize unused spaces and create a gaming experience that prioritizes value over traditional coin-operated arcades.
“Continue Arcades is about bringing people together through gaming,” Wood stated. “We wanted to create a space where everyone, regardless of age or gaming experience, can enjoy themselves without the constant need for coins.”
The arcade also offers a selection of beverages, including soft drinks, premixed cocktails, beers, ciders, and IPAs. Unlimited warm popcorn is available for a small additional charge. The venue is designed to be family-friendly, catering to groups and individual gamers alike.
Opening on April 4th, operating hours will be Sunday to Thursday from 11:30 am to 9:00 pm, Friday from 11:30 am to 11:00 pm, and Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm.
