Legendary fighting game tournament, Red Bull Kumite, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with a highly anticipated return to the city that started it all. Descending in Paris, France at the historic La Maison de la Mutualité on 5–6 April 2025, the event promises two thrilling days of Street Fighter 6 action as 16 of the world’s most formidable players battle it out in an exhilarating showdown.
A spectacle set for the FGC history books, this year’s special anniversary edition offers an electrifying Art Deco-themed clash of generations as legends go head-to-head with the community’s underdogs. Upon the Great Gatsby-inspired stage, 8 Street Fighter icons, boasting victories across Red Bull Kumite, EVO, and the Capcom Cup, will face off against 8 hungry challengers, including the victors of the Last Chance Qualifier and Play-In stages. As the pressure mounts, legends and rookies alike will vie in a spectacular showdown to prove once and for all whether the new generation can dethrone the established leaders of the fighting game world.
With 14 players directly invited to compete in the Main Event on Sunday 6 April, the final two players completing the challenger’s roster will be decided via the Last Chance Qualifier and Play-In tournament on Saturday 5 April. With 256 slots available for hopeful players across the globe to fill, participant registration for the open bracket Play-In tournament opens 31 Jan, 8pm CET via Start.gg.
Each thrilling match is set to test the players’ skill, adaptability, and mental fortitude, culminating in one champion standing tall as the ultimate Street Fighter competitor. The main event on Sunday, April 6 will follow Red Bull Kumite’s signature format:
- A live drawing of the tournament bracket
- Intense single-elimination matchups in a first-to-5 format
Since its inception in Paris in 2015, Red Bull Kumite has established itself as a striking pillar of the global fighting game community’s calendar. Over the years, it has graced incredible venues in Japan, London, Las Vegas, and South Africa, delivering unforgettable moments to cement its status as a premier event for Street Fighter fans. Last year’s New York showdown was chock full of nail-biting action, as Saul Leonardo “MenaRD” Mena II triumphed after a fierce victory over Du “NuckleDu” Dang to lift the champion’s trophy in the Grand Finals.
As the anniversary edition looms, Red Bull Kumite Paris is poised to continue its tradition of bringing together the very best in heated competition, spectacular talent and the unmatched camaraderie of the fighting game community. With spectator tickets now on sale, fans can experience the electrifying atmosphere first-hand and witness the top players in the world compete inside the iconic Red Bull Kumite cage: redbullkumite2025.eventbrite.fr
Once again, the tournament will be joining forces with industry-leading partners to provide exceptional hardware to the event. Red Bull Kumite Paris welcomes the return of the global leader in gaming monitors, AGON by AOC as the Official Monitor Partner who offer exceptional visual clarity and ultra-high refresh rates to competitors. Emmy-Winning Director R.J. Cutler’s Docuseries Esports World Cup: Level Up Premieres June 6 on Prime Video
Prime Video, one of the leading entertainment destinations, will premiere the five-part documentary Esports World Cup: Level Up on June 6, with new episodes released weekly. Directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker R.J. Cutler (Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry, Elton John: Never Too Late and Martha), the series goes behind-the-scenes of the inaugural Esports World Cup (EWC) in 2024 — a defining moment in global esports, where over $60 million in prize money ignited a high-stakes, multinational battle to crown the world’s top esports Club.
The series is produced by This Machine (a part of Sony Pictures Television), with R.J. Cutler directing, John Dorsey serving as showrunner, and Jane Cha Cutler, Trevor Smith, Elise Pearlstein and Mark Blatty executive producing. Level Up will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Esports World Cup: Level Up offers a rare look inside a global competition that’s redefining what it means to be a champion for a new generation of athletes and fans. R.J. Cutler and his team of expert storytellers embedded themselves within the eight-week tournament – watched by over 500 million fans globally – to uncover the personal sacrifices, rivalries and stakes driving the action.
Shot in verité style, the series combines intimate home visits from around the world and on-the-ground coverage from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It follows a wide cast of characters – from Club CEOs orchestrating million-dollar strategies to rising stars chasing life-changing wins – while capturing the pulse of elite esports competition.
“What drew me to the Esports World Cup was the compelling human stories unfolding within this high-stakes arena. Level Up isn’t just about the incredible competition and prize money; it’s about the dedication, the passion, and the sheer will of these athletes and teams pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Under high pressure, we discover the true character of the competitors who vie for $60 million, but who also expose their humanity in the process,” said Cutler.
At the heart of Level Up is the “EWC Club Championship,” an unprecedented, multi-title tournament format where Clubs compete across more than 20 games, earning points toward a single leaderboard. Every match, every point, reshapes the race for global dominance. With the highest prize pool in esports history on the line, the EWC is not just a tournament – it’s a proving ground for the next generation of sports icons.
“A win might make the headlines — but the real story is the people behind it. Level Up dives into the human side of esports: the pressure, the ambition, the sacrifices. It’s about what it really takes to compete at the highest level — and why it matters. R.J. is the best at bringing those stories to life, and this one captures the heart of what we’re building,” said Ralf Reichert, CEO of the Esports World Cup Foundation.
