A Journey of Empowerment: CasinoBeats Summit 2024 Champions Women in the Casino Industry

At the forefront of change, the CasinoBeats Summit 2024 promises to be a catalyst for female leadership within the casino industry, featuring an array of empowering activities.
The event is set to feature dedicated meditation sessions, yoga classes, leadership talks and a poker tournament, aiming to foster a sense of community while addressing crucial issues such as stress management and leadership empowerment.
“It’s a platform for women to unite, share their successes and cultivate the leadership qualities needed to thrive in the industry,” the Senior Conference Producer for SBC, Natalie Lees, said. “It was really important for us to bring practical takeaways from these sessions and structure the day to ensure a seamless flow from each session. It is all about providing a collaborative, fun and educational experience at the CasinoBeats Summit, fostering both personal and professional growth.”
The Women in Gaming Day will kick off on the second day of the event, Thursday, May 23, with the Women in Gaming Breakfast. This time-honoured tradition will provide a space for women in the industry to come together and network over breakfast, setting the tone for the rest of the day.
The first workshop of the day entitled Mindful Mastery: A Meditation Workshop for Stress Management and Presence will be led by yoga experts Ana Luiza Cardoso and Svetlana Abela. It will delve into meditation fundamentals, providing insights into stress management and practical techniques for immediate relief. Participants will learn to integrate mindfulness into their daily routines, enhancing their clarity and efficiency in tackling multiple responsibilities. During this workshop, women will have the opportunity to partake in meditation and yoga sessions that are tailored to accommodate conference settings and can be comfortably performed in regular attire.
The workshop entitled Voices Unveiled: Illuminating Bias through Shared Stories will see leaders from Global Gaming Women, the Women in Gaming group and other industry leaders present real-life experiences of women in our industry. The session will comprise statements collected anonymously prior to the event detailing the various challenges women encounter including but not limited to mental health struggles, physical ailments and other obstacles they face in the workplace. In addition to fostering empathy, understanding and a collective commitment to positive change, the workshop will seek to amplify the voices of those who may otherwise remain unheard and empower leaders to take meaningful action in addressing these issues head-on.
The High Stakes Leadership workshop will explore effective strategies for confidently navigating times of stress and change in the workplace. The closed-door mentorship session will be led by Emily Haruko Leeb, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer for Saroca, and Claire Adamou, Development Vice-President for Saroca, a company that specialises in elevating gaming industry businesses through targeted leadership development programs and organisational effectiveness consulting. Attendees will receive the tools to enhance communication, bolster trust and boost productivity within their team and client relationships.
Concluding the day, attendees will have the opportunity to put their poker skills to the test in a competitive 100-person poker tournament, hosted by Ivonne Montealegre, Chief Executive Officer for Fiebre Limited. The tournament, in partnership with Casino Malta, is scheduled to take place at 15:00 and will be located on the exhibition floor, serving as an ideal platform for participants to enjoy games of poker while further strengthening their bonds.
All sessions mentioned are set to take place in the Workshop Room on Level 2. To participate in the workshops, please register your interest here.

Avoiding black-market dominance? Get insights and remedies at next week’s GiH Conference!

As a result of growing regulatory pressure and increasing tax rates, black-market operators have made significant gains in the Netherlands in recent months.
The Netherlands Gambling Authority currently estimates that unlicensed operators have managed to capture more than half of total online GGR.
This year’s Gaming in Holland Conference – which takes place Thursday, June 5 – will feature many sessions specifically dedicated to understanding & avoiding (further) black-market growth:
- Nederlandse Loterij CEO, Arjan Blok will discuss (among other things) his company’s ongoing civil proceedings against Costa Rica-based operator LalaBet.
- Renske Fikkers, Head of Market Supervision at the Netherlands Gambling Authority, will further clarify the regulator’s approach to combating illegal gambling.
- Josh Hodgson, COO of H2 Gambling Capital, will share the latest estimates of the current size of the offshore online market, as well as future growth projections.
- Henk Willem Smits, investigative reporter at Follow the Money, will highlight ownership structures and methods of popular black-market operators.
- Christian Heins, Director iGaming at Tipico, will outline how licensed operators can effectively hurt illegal competitors by pressuring B2B suppliers.
All this, of course, in addition to a loaded program that will cover the latest political developments, the impact of further tax increases, M&A, AI, marketing & much more.
Breakout sessions, networking & additional information
Besides an impressive main-stage program, the 2025 GiH Conference also offers five highly practical breakout sessions to help our attendees deal with their day-to-day business concerns:
- B2B licensing for the Dutch market? (Magno Neiva, Head of Compliance, Altenar)
- Bonuses, promotional games & player protection: Navigating the regulatory landscape (Joris Crone, Lawyer, Franssen Tolboom Advocaten)
- Elevating the player journey: Sustainable growth through responsible engagement (Janez Dovžan, Commercial Director PAM – Turnkey Solutions, Bragg Gaming Group)
- Platform technology in the Netherlands (Brian Forth, Commercial Director, Finnplay Technologies)
- Lessons learned from compliance testing in the Netherlands (Sander Hoogendoorn, Business Development Manager, Trisigma)
Lastly, don’t miss our traditional boat tour through Amsterdam’s picturesque canals, festive networking drinks at Holland Casino Amsterdam, and the opportunity to meet the key decision makers in the Dutch regulated gambling market.
