Industry-leading poker experts commit to expanding in competitive and highly regulated Dutch market

EvenBet Gaming, a leading developer of online gaming software and solutions, has secured a Dutch certification to provide regulated gaming operators in the Netherlands with access to its suite of poker and card games.

The country’s regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) awarded the certificate following a BMM Testlabs technical assessment, marking a crucial milestone in EvenBet’s strategic growth plans.

The Netherlands regulated online poker in 2021, and EvenBet’s entry cements its spot as one of the few providers offering this product vertical in the region.

Licensed Dutch operators can now integrate EvenBet’s most popular poker and card games, as well as benefit from a sophisticated CRM solution to manage poker tables and customers.

While many major providers and operators in the online poker sphere have exited the market following regulatory updates, EvenBet’s arrival highlights its dedication to bolstering its presence in highly regulated jurisdictions and strengthening its overall reputation as a trusted supplier.

Dmitry Starostenkov, CEO at EvenBet Gaming, said: “Receiving a Dutch certification is a key moment in EvenBet’s history. It showcases our desire to work within the strictest jurisdictions to ensure players receive the highest-quality gaming experience and that sports betting operators, casinos and dedicated poker rooms have the tools to manage these effectively.

“It is the latest move in our extensive commercial strategy, and we are delighted to be entering a market that is serviced by only a handful of the most dedicated developers.”

Bitblox – the up-and-coming price prediction games provider on a mission to bring crypto-based betting to the masses – announced today that it has received approval from the Gambling Supervision Committee to supply its content to all Isle of Man-licenced businesses.

Having successfully acquired a licence from the GSC, an organisation which is widely considered to be the gold standard among iGaming regulators, Bitblox will now be able to share its full range of titles with operators and aggregators working in any of the markets covered by the certification.

As such, all IOM-licensed brands wishing to add an engaging new vertical to their existing line-up will now be able to choose from an innovative selection of games that includes Up or Down, Up or Down Turbo, 3 in a Row and BitSlap, all of which are currently available in pool betting format.

Offering a fast-paced and entertaining betting experience that is instantly accessible to crypto aficionados and newcomers to the industry alike, all of these games hinge on a players’ ability to correctly predict how the price of a specific cryptocurrency will fluctuate over a set period of time.

In Up or Down and Up or Down Turbo, bettors will be tasked with guessing whether the price of a token will increase or decrease over a 60 or 20 second interval respectively, while 3 in a Row takes this concept to the next level by enabling users to combine three outcomes for even bigger prizes.

BitSlap, on the other hand, uses the same basic concept as the other three titles, but this time introduces fun characters who fight at the end of the betting round, creating a light-hearted game with mass market appeal that also offers potential for operators to introduce their own branding.

While this exciting game collection is already totally distinct from anything else in the industry, Bitblox has also announced it intends to enhance its product line-up in future by including both free-to-play and real money tournaments that will add an extra level of social engagement to play.

Brandt Page, CEO at Bitblox, said: “Here at Bitblox we’re attempting to introduce an entirely new form of crypto-based betting to the iGaming industry, so having our titles certified by the Isle of Man’s GSC is obviously a huge step forward in terms of what we’re hoping to achieve.

“With this new certification now in place, we’ll be able to offer our unique games to operators and aggregators based in all countries covered by the IOM licence, meaning players of all experience levels will be able to use an appealing mix of skill and luck as they try to profit from the markets.”

Cedar Crossing to Raise Bar for Entertainment in Iowa

Peninsula Pacific Entertainment (P2E), a national gaming operator and developer, and the Linn County Gaming Association (LCGA), a local nonprofit association, announced their intent to jointly apply for a gaming license with the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission (IRGC) after the state moratorium on new licenses expires on June 30, 2024.

“The time is now for Cedar Crossing. Linn County residents have overwhelmingly passed two gaming referendums and they have been patient. With the moratorium expiring soon, we look forward to bringing an unprecedented casino gaming and entertainment destination to Cedar Rapids,” said P2E Board Member Jonathan Swain.

If granted a license, Cedar Crossing plans to support local nonprofits with contributions of 8% of its annual gaming revenue – the highest in the state. While Iowa mandates that licensed casinos donate at least 3% to nonprofit organizations, Cedar Crossing aims to significantly exceed this requirement to make a meaningful impact in the community.

“People like to count us out, though we are part of a resilient community. Linn County has come back stronger than before – and we’re going to do it again with Cedar Crossing. A local casino will help our communities be even more vibrant: We estimate that Cedar Crossing will be able to commit $5 million to $7 million to nonprofits annually. This will be a major boost to local organizations, and just one of the many ways this project will make Linn County an even better place to live, work and visit,” said LCGA President Anne Parmley.

In 2013 and 2021, Linn County residents passed public referendums authorizing gaming in the county. The 2021 vote, Public Measure G, permanently authorizes gaming in the county, enabling P2E to develop plans to bring an entertainment and gaming facility to the county. Residents will not have to vote for a third measure.

Cedar Crossing is proposed to be located along the west side of the Cedar River between Kingston Village and Time Check Park. The structure will provide important flood protection infrastructure along the west side of the river, helping to further revitalize the area.

“Our commitment to building a world-class destination has never wavered. We are in the final stages of finalizing our vision for Cedar Crossing and look forward to setting a new standard for gaming and entertainment in Iowa,” said Swain.

In addition to county residents, the project has long been supported by several local government officials and trade unions.

“From the resounding support of Linn County voters to recent legislative developments and today’s announcement, our commitment to the Linn County Gaming Association has remained steadfast. The development team continues to demonstrate their dedication to Cedar Rapids with a vision for a casino that highlights our community’s potential as a modern entertainment and gaming destination. I am confident their next proposal will bring significant benefits to Cedar Rapids and Linn County as a whole, offering unmatched opportunities for our residents and visitors while providing vital support for community organizations to advance and thrive,” said Cedar Rapids Mayor Tiffany O’Donnell.

In addition to Mayor O’Donnell, Linn County Board of Supervisors Chair Kirsten Running-Marquardt supports Cedar Crossing.

“Linn County residents support casino gambling in Linn County. This investment in our community would increase opportunity for our local economy in several ways, including job creation, tourism and providing unmatched entertainment options. Like other Iowa counties, we are looking for a fair chance for the people of Linn County to receive these benefits for our community,” Running-Marquardt said.

Parents first line of defence in teenage gambling prevention

The NSW Government is enlisting parents in its efforts to protect children from gambling harm in light of statistics showing parental behaviour strongly influences teenage gambling attitudes.

The Office of Responsible Gambling has launched a public awareness campaign in response to research that highlighted risks of adolescent gambling harm, from parental influences through to everyday gambling advertising.

The research was funded by the NSW Responsible Gambling Fund (RGF), with The Role of Parents in Youth Gambling report finding almost 70 per cent of parents who gambled during the previous year did so in the presence of their children.

Other key risk factors were playing gambling-like video games, poor parental monitoring, and less positive parent-adolescent relationships.

More than a quarter of the 947 parents surveyed (27 per cent) reported that their adolescent had participated in at least one form of gambling during the past 12 months, with the most common being instant scratchies and lottery tickets.

The NSW Youth Gambling Study supported previous findings that young people’s gambling attitudes and behaviours were shaped through the influence of parents, peers, gambling advertising, sport, gambling opportunities, and monetary and simulated gambling products.

The new GambleAware campaign, which includes social and other media advertising, aims to encourage discussions about the potential dangers of exposing minors to gambling.

It includes videos for parents and carers about how to minimise young people’s exposure to gambling, as well as additional information, fact sheets and contact details for support services on the GambleAware.nsw.gov.au page.

The campaign addresses three significant factors that drive young people’s perception of, and participation in, gambling:

The role parental influence plays in a child’s attitudes to gambling
The convergence of gaming and gambling, and how parents and carers can create a safer environment for their children
Gambling advertising and its effects on children, and how parents and carers can reduce their children’s exposure.

If you or someone you care about needs support or advice, call GambleAware on 1800 858 858 for free and confidential help and support 24/7.

Director of the Office of Responsible Gambling Alison Parkinson said:

“Young people are now, more than ever, exposed to gambling via video games, advertising, watching sports and through social media so it’s vital we educate children and young people about gambling risks.

“Parents and carers have the greatest influence on youth gambling and their children’s attitudes towards it and I encourage them to monitor their children’s exposure to gaming and gambling, and to talk to them about the risks.

“Things you can do include not gambling in front of your children or teenagers, not helping them to gamble, talking to them about the risks of gambling and supervising them online.”

Gamble Aware Community Engagement Officer South-Western Sydney, Kaitlyn Sturges said:

“It is important for parents and carers to be curious about the games children play and what they contain. Gaming can have a positive role in the young person’s life, but the games they play can also expose them to gambling and gambling-like activities.

“Many parents and carers haven’t reviewed their own attitudes towards gambling, chance and luck, and how that might trickle down to young people.

“A lot of young people are ill-informed about the concepts of randomness and chance, but I firmly believe that they can make informed decisions if we provide them with the necessary education.”
