African Qualifiers Wrap Up with Five Countries Securing a Spot in Bali

After two thrilling days of competition, the International Esports Federation (IESF) concluded the African regional qualifiers for the World Esports Championships this weekend. Morocco, Nigeria, Algeria, Ivory Coast, and Namibia topped the podiums and will advance directly to the 14th WE Championships in Bali, Indonesia, in December.

The winning nations of the regional qualifiers will automatically advance to the finals and the remaining countries will participate in a play-in phase for the last chance to qualify in the finals in Bali.

The countries advancing in the Finals include:

CS:GO – Indonesia, Vietnam, Algeria, North Macedonia, Argentina

CS:GO Female – Poland, Indonesia, Namibia, Argentina

IESF President Vlad Marinescu said: “After an exciting round of regional qualifiers, we can’t wait to welcome the World Esports Family to Bali. Thank you to all our amazing hosts who made this qualifying round a success. Congratulations to the African nations who have just secured their spots and every other nation who fiercely competed to make it to the World Esports Championships Finals. We can’t wait to see everyone in action in just one month. The stage is set for an incredible competition in Bali!”

African Esports Vice President Emmanual Oyelakin said: “The Africa Regional Qualifiers was the first ever and it gave African gamers an opportunity to compete for Bali. This event has now produced the best gamers Africa has to offer and we look forward to taking on the rest of the world and making Africa shine.”

The 2022 WE Championships Finals are scheduled to take place from December 1 to 12. The Finals will feature a record $500,000 prize pool, and it remains the sole international esports competition where players compete representing their countries. This year is expected to be the largest and most geographically diverse installment of the event to date.
