Breeders’ Cup 2023 venue joins Total Performance Data’s portfolio

Total Performance Data (TPD) has expanded its coverage of North American racing as it goes live at Santa Anita, host track for the 2023 Breeders’ Cup.

The iconic venue located in Arcadia joins the 20 thoroughbred racetracks across the US and Canada operated via TPD and Equibase’s partnership. Santa Anita, a popular track with UK punters, adds 100 racedays to the number of US fixtures covered by TPD annually, with the tracking provider having recently surpassed the half a million horses tracked milestone.

The Stronach Group/1ST-owned racetrack can accommodate up to 80,000 fans for live racing, and will stage the Breeder’s Cup in 2023 for a record 11th time. It also hosts a list of other graded races such as the Santa Anita Derby where giants of the game like California Chrome and Justify rose through the ranks.

TPD’s data will generate the full running order graphics on Santa Anita’s big screen, like at all other Stronach Group venues, to provide racegoers with live in-race information, while the introduction of in-running data at the track could open up in-play betting opportunities for operators.

Will Duff Gordon, TPD CEO, said: “We are very grateful for the vision shown by the Stronach Group to adopt our tracking system across all of their racetracks and look forward to the innovation and engagement that the content will provide.”

This new deal now takes TPD’s data services to well over 2,000 racedays projected for 2023 and comes after other US expansion deals were announced in April this year with Gulfstream Park, Horseshoe Indianapolis, Lone Star Park and Hoosier Park added to TPD’s portfolio.
