Team behind multi-million pound technology platform Docman, that held clinical documents for two-thirds of UK population – enter gambling market as operators bolster regulatory technology

Cybersecurity experts behind a multi-million pound British health technology firm have launched digital ID app Luciditi ahead of the gambling industry’s White Paper review.

Luciditi is a real-time identification platform, which uses photo facial matching, document proofing and liveness detection, alongside military-grade encryption to ensure the security of the increasing number of documents customers are being asked to give to operators.

The security app uses a concept yet to be seen in the betting and gaming industry in providing customers with a digital ID account, where all their personal data can be stored – away from operators. Players can then use the ID to verify themselves across multiple operators with real-time consent.

This will pave the way for simple identity verification within operator groups and amongst rival brands, which will help negate the risk of customers making multiple accounts to deposit more money – one of the examples cited against Entain, who were forced to pay a record £17million for compliance breaches.

Luciditi launch with clients including social pools betting app Premier Picks, who have integrated the app’s technology into their own platform to provide real-time identity verification.

The platform has been built over the past three-and-a-half years in-house by UK-based parent company Arissian, who believe the app would have cost several million pounds to create in research and development from scratch.

Luciditi is co-founded by Philip Young, Chief Technical Officer of Arissian. Young has entered the gambling industry for the first time after selling Docman to private equity. At one time, Docman held clinical documents for two thirds of the UK population.

Philip Young, creator of Luciditi and Chief Technical Officer of Arissian:

”As the recent catalogue of high-profile data breaches prove, large organisations aren’t necessarily the best equipped to keep your data safe, with the gambling industry being no exception.

“Operators haven’t upgraded their technology at the pace required both by the modern customer in terms of a speedy registration process and most importantly, to ensure the vast and growing cache of personal information now required to stay on file is kept as secure as possible.

“Luciditi adds a level of confidence which doesn’t currently exist in the market by using digital identity technology currently available in other sectors, bringing it to gambling operators of all sizes and finding a solution to the industry’s achilles’ heel.

“We are bringing our experience in the medical and healthcare sector – where speed, data security and customer trust is of the utmost importance – to gambling at a time when operators are going to have to invest significantly to meet regulatory requirements and customer expectations.”
