NRM purchase Probability Jones games studio and confirm Air Dice as equity partner
‘A step change for the NRM business’ is how Managing Director Andrew Ludlow described confirmation that it has acquired UK-based games studio Probability Jones and secured an equity partner in the form of the holding company of Helsinki headquartered Air Dice. Under the terms of the agreement signed with Air Dice CEO, Sami Makinen, Andrew Ludlow remains as a significant shareholder and MD of NRM and associated businesses.
Explaining the significance of the relationship, which he believes will further enhance the opportunities open to NRM and its customers, Andrew Ludlow said: “NRM has always been a company, rich in ideas and brimming with talent; concluding this deal with Air Dice creates additional firepower to fully develop what have always been consistently ambitious innovation pipelines.
He added: “We have an absolutely superb customer portfolio and a range of industry leading products delivered across multiple sectors. These remain unwaveringly central to our future plans and therefore identifying a partner with whom we have both shared ambitions and a shared philosophy has not been an easy task but I would say the fit with Air Dice is close to perfect. Air Dice has been an important supply partner for us in the UK Bingo sector for many years and has development studios based across Europe. It will be able to provide us with additional support across the key strategic areas of resource, technology and distribution. This development we believe is a game changer and it’s very much a case of watch this space as we open the next chapter in the development of the company.”
Sami Makinen, the Air Dice CEO stated: “We are equally positive about building on our existing and very productive relationship with Andrew and the team at NRM. Both organisations are comfortable challenging conventional thinking and exploring new ways of doing things and combining both online and offline. Both are 100 percent customer focussed and there’s a very positive chemistry and a shared outlook on how to run and develop a technology and ideas driven business. In terms of the future nothing is off the table and our shared mantra is to ask why not? rather than why? – which is a hugely positive starting point to build from. These are extremely exciting times for our businesses.”
NRM will be making its first ever stand-alone exhibitor appearance at ACOS (20th/21st October). The company will be using the opportunity to showcase its innovative range of products for retail gaming and leisure markets. Andrew Ludlow confirmed: “From mobile applications and membership systems, entertainment platforms, high street bingo systems, digital signage solutions, wide area numbers games and handheld tablets with slots content – we will have a fabulous range of products on show at what is our debut appearance at ACOS. These products and servicesare specifically focused to enhance the guest experience and drive improved profitability across retail environments including AGC’s, Bingo Halls, Clubs, Holiday Parks, LBO’s and Pub’s.”
He added: “ACOS marks the return of live events for the industry in the UK and an ideal opportunity for us to discuss the topics that are front and centre stage for our customers. This coupled with the next chapter in the development of NRM represents an exciting narrative full of opportunity which I and the team at NRM are looking forward to discussing face-to-face with our loyal customers.”

L&GNSW Launches Compliance Campaign

The Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW) has launched a compliance campaign focusing on external gambling signage and internal gambling related signage that is visible from the outside of the premises.
Inspectors will be engaging licensees and attending venues to assess compliance.
L&GNSW will be taking escalated enforcement action against any venue found not to be complying with the requirements.
From 1 December 2023, L&GNSW adopted a zero-tolerance enforcement approach regarding external gambling-related signage. This followed a compliance campaign which involved the removal of all external gambling related signage such as “VIP Lounge,” signage that includes dragon imagery or similar, and the removal of adopted imagery including images associated with gaming machines.
External gambling related signage at hotels and registered clubs are subjected to the requirements of sections 43 and 44 of the Gaming Machines Act 2001 NSW (the Act).
These requirements are in place to continue supporting gambling harm minimisation by reducing the visibility and promotion of gambling, particularly to vulnerable individuals and the broader community.
Venues that are not yet compliant should consult the 2023 Compliance Campaign: External gaming signage for hotels & clubs position paper or contact the Hospitality Concierge for additional information on the requirements.
L&GNSW recommends venues conduct self-audits to ensure their obligations and requirements in relation to the Act are met. A Gaming Harm Minimisation Fact sheet is also available.
Breaches of section 43(1) and 44(1) of the Act can result in on the spot fines of $1100 per offence or a maximum fine of $11,000 per offence if prosecuted.
