Canberra Racing Club race meetings will be beamed into 68 countries globally as part of an innovative new long-term partnership with TAB and Sky Racing that will elevate the status of racing in the nation’s capital.

The Club heralded a new era with the agreement for Australia’s largest wagering brand TAB to continue as the club’s official wagering partner until 2030 and a Sky Racing broadcast rights agreement that will see the network distribute racing in Canberra until at least 2029.

The partnership includes major race day activations, enhanced media content and priority coverage on Sky Racing as an official TAB partner. Tabcorp Senior Sponsorships & Events Manager Katherine Morgan said the agreement highlighted the strength of racing in the nation’s capital.

She said: “This partnership is a new era for racing in Canberra. It brings together our entire ecosystem to grow the club, from creating innovative race day activations for patrons at the track to using our media network to give Canberra a global footprint.

“TAB is the industry partner and this long-term partnership is built to create an exciting long term and sustainable future for racing in Canberra and to attract new audiences to the Canberra races.

“TAB has accelerated a digital transformation with new products to improve the customer experience and the Canberra Racing Club will benefit from that transformation.”

Sky Racing Head of Partnerships Selina Rumble said Sky would give Canberra a global footprint as part of the deal. “Canberra races will be beamed into 68 countries across the globe via the Sky Racing Network. We broadcast 150,000 races live each year and through our global partners the Canberra races will be live on screens worldwide,” she said.

“We’ll also be giving our Australian viewers front row seats to Canberra racing via our domestic network which is broadcasts into 4000 retail venues and 50,000 screens nationwide and into homes across the country.

“We’ve recently given Sky Racing a facelift and we’re innovating the way we broadcast races and Canberra will benefit from that.

Canberra Racing Club Chief Executive Darren Pearce said: “We couldn’t be prouder to partner with Sky to showcase Canberra’s fantastic racing around the globe and shine a light on our vibrant Capital,” he said.

“TAB are investing strategically for growth and are the right partners for our Club. We look forward to growing together and bringing exciting innovations to racing fans everywhere.

“These momentous partnerships are a really big win for our Club and will be great contributors in our drive for sustainable and long-term growth for everyone invested in Canberra Racing.

“The agreement will see the continuation of the TAB Federal series, a popular and established brand which see’s significant interest from a media and wagering perspective at each of our meetings.

“The Listed TAB Canberra Cup is in a fantastic position to further grow its profile with the 2022 quinella in Arapaho and Explosive Jack going onto Group 1 glory in subsequent Autumn features, the Tancred and Sydney Cup respectively.”
