HAWKS TALON GC CLINCH TOP SEED IN GROUP IN ‘THE SWITCH’, ADVANCE TO INDIANAPOLIS

Hawks Talon GC, the official NBA 2K League Affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, wrapped up the group play portion of THE SWITCH on Friday night with a 3-1 win over Grizz Gaming. THE SWITCH is the second 3v3 tournament of Season Five of the NBA 2K League. Hawks Talon Gaming have secured the top seed in group play in both 3v3 tournaments this season and have advanced to bracket play in Indianapolis for three consecutive tournaments overall.

Hawks Talon Gaming finished group play with a 5-1 record. The team lost their opening matchup to NetsGC, 3-1, but went on to win every series thereafter. Only one of their series victories reached a fifth game in a best-of-five format.

“We fell short during THE TIPOFF after losing the last game of group play. That night we made a promise to do everything in our power to not miss another live event,” said Hawks Talon Gaming Head Coach Ismael Diaz-Tolentino. “This makes three live events in a row that we have made and we are just getting started!”

On June 22 against Green Beanz, Caesar Martinez (CEEZ) scored all 22 points in a victory in the second game of the series. It was the second time of the season that CEEZ has scored 22 points in a 3v3 game.

The bracket play will begin on Wednesday, June 29 with four the round-of-16 matchups in a best-of-five format. Thursday, June 30 will wrap up the round-of-16 schedule. Friday, July 1 will feature all four quarterfinals matchups in a best-of-seven format. The tournament will wrap up on Saturday, July 2 with both semifinals as well as the finals, all best-of-seven.
