World’s Largest Casino Chip and Collectibles Show is This Week

The world’s largest casino chip and collectibles show runs June 16-18 at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. For anyone who finds casinos – and specifically casino history – a fascinating topic, this show, hosted by the Casino Collectibles Association, is a must-see event. And for the low price of admission, $10 max, it is an entertainment value. The event is open to the public and includes a multitude of fascinating displays and activities.

Classic casino mementos from all over the world will be displayed by over 50 expert dealers. Gaming chips fans will find displays dedicated to a multitude of gaming chip categories such as rare chips, roulette chips, counterfeit chips, illegal casino chips, odd denomination chips, and collections dedicated to subjects such as sports and aliens. Additional collections on display will include gaming tokens, dice, slot cards and glass, playing cards, matchbooks, menus, dinnerware, gaming table felt, casino photos, advertising and promotional gimmicks, post cards – just about anything with a casino brand.

New this year is the personification of the Casino Collectibles Association’s objective to foster the preservation and education of gaming history. Dubbed the Celebrity Meet & Greet Gaming Education Series, it features four gaming celebrities who have volunteered their time to greet, meet and mingle with show attendees, answer their questions and satisfy their curiosity about the personality’s unique role in the shaping of the gaming industry we know today.

Tom McEvoy. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker Main Event and was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2013. Talk poker with him from 1 pm to 3 pm on Thursday and Friday, June 16 and 17.

Chris Andrews. He turned the sportsbook at the tiny Cal Neva casino into one of the biggest and most successful sportsbooks in Nevada. Talk sports betting with him from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday, June 16.

Michael Niotta, Ph.D. His great grandfather was LA “Godfather” Jack Dragna who, along with partners like Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel, helped pioneer the offshore gambling industry and the racing wire service. Visit with him from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, June 17.

Dustin Marks. 35 years ago, he dealt blackjack and cheated the casinos out of millions of dollars – and never got caught. Meet him from 10 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 2 pm on Saturday, June 18.
