Allwyn launches Powerball on The National Lottery in the UK

Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, has launched Powerball in the UK, with tickets on sale now online via The National Lottery app and in retailers nationwide. The company said the first draw will take place on Thursday 23 July from the Powerball studio in Florida, with an estimated advertised UK jackpot of £300 million.

Allwyn said the first UK Powerball ticket was sold at Sewell On The Go in Pocklington, York shortly after 5am, while the first online ticket was purchased through The National Lottery App by a player in Brighton at 5.54am. Tickets for the first draw are available until 11.55pm on Wednesday 22 July, with draws scheduled around 4am UK time on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays thereafter.

Powerball is launching in the UK in partnership with the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), a non-profit association owned and operated by its member lotteries. Allwyn said the UK version costs £4 per line and uses the Powerball format of matching five main numbers plus the Powerball to win the shared jackpot, with the jackpot paid to UK winners over 30 years.

Allwyn said the UK game includes a UK-only prize tier for matching two main numbers, paying a fixed £8 prize, and a fixed £1 million prize for matching five main numbers. Players choose five main numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26, or can select a Lucky Dip.
