Vindral chosen by Swedish Television as part of remote production workflow during Milano Cortina

Swedish Television (SVT) has selected Vindral as part of its software-based approach to remote production which has been covered in numerous media outlets (read more here). The system is currently in use for the production of the ongoing coverage in Milano Cortina.

The collaboration forms part of SVT’s landmark NEO initiative, short for Next-Gen Online Production. Launched in 2020, NEO was created with the ambition of enabling fully software-based remote production and distribution. The project represents not only a technical transformation but also a shift in mindset, guided by the principle that production workflows should be intuitive and accessible, without requiring specialist engineering expertise to initiate or manage a broadcast. Alongside flexibility, the initiative also aims to deliver improved cost efficiency across remote production environments.

Vindral has been selected as one of the technology suppliers within this comprehensive NEO ecosystem, including both of Vindral’s flagship products, Vindral Composer and Vindral Live. Vindral Composer and Vindral Live are deployed as tools within the live broadcast workflow, enabling low-latency contribution feeds to producers, real-time compositing as well as audio processing.

Furthermore, Vindral Composer replaces traditional hardware-centric production setups with a software-based compositing solution that is faster to deploy, less complex to configure, and more accessible for production teams.

Vindral Live Multiviewer supports simultaneous monitoring of multiple channels within the production environment. Vindral Live also delivers production feeds using Media Over QUIC (MOQ), a next-generation transport protocol enabling ultra-low-latency video contribution between remote production sites over standard internet connections.

One of the main challenges of the NEO project was to maintain dependable performance at a fraction of the cost while maintaining greater flexibility. The Games, grounded in the values of excellence, respect and friendship, continue to bring viewers together across borders, and modern, resilient production infrastructure plays a key role in ensuring that experience reaches audiences seamlessly.

Vindral, founded by Swedish technologists with deep expertise in video, audio, real-time streaming, computer vision and AI, provides a high-performance live video platform built for modern broadcasters.

Daniel Alinder, CEO at Vindral, commented: “We’re proud to support Swedish Television in its sports coverage through the NEO project, now in use for one of the world’s most prestigious events. SVT has long been recognised as a pioneer in broadcast innovation, and working within this forward-looking remote production environment, and world-class team, is a strong validation of the platform we have built.”
