Blask data shows France’s iGaming search demand is dominated by lottery
Blask has published new non-branded search data indicating that lottery-related queries account for around 78% of total gambling search demand in France, outweighing interest in sports-related products.
According to the company, online casino generates roughly 10% of demand in France, while live dealer, betting and poker each represent about 4%. Blask positions the finding as evidence that market assumptions—particularly around sports betting—may not align with actual consumer interest in every jurisdiction.
Alongside the data, Blask introduced a new category-level analysis feature designed to break down demand across verticals and subcategories by market. The company said the tool is intended to help operators understand what players are looking for in different countries using non-branded search signals.
Blask’s figures point to pronounced country-by-country variation. In Brazil, online betting represents about 52% of demand, driven largely by football, while lottery holds around 25% and fantasy sports about 11%; casino is around 6% and live dealer around 2%, according to the company. India shows a more even split, with lottery at roughly 35% and live dealer about 29%, while online casino, betting and fantasy each contribute around 10%.
In Europe, Blask said Italy’s demand is shaped by football seasonality, with fantasy sports leading at about 37%, while Switzerland shows a “casino-first” structure, with online casino at approximately 38% of total demand. Across markets analysed, Blask said two consistent patterns emerge: established categories often remain the largest, and regulation materially shapes demand, with interest shifting into adjacent or offshore segments where verticals are restricted.
