OlyBet and World Series of Poker Enter Partnership to Bring WSOP to Tallinn
OlyBet Group and the World Series of Poker announced that the richest, longest running and most prestigious poker series will for the first time visit Northern Europe. Working together with partners WSOP and GG Poker, Olympic Entertainment Group’s OlyBet will host a WSOP Circuit event in Tallinn, with a €1,000,000 guaranteed Main Event and altogether 12 WSOP Ring Events to take place at the Olympic Park Casino and Hilton Hotel from September 14 to 24, this coming fall.
“During this year’s World Series of Poker, we’ve again seen the continuous growth of the sport, as people from all over the world have made their way to Las Vegas to be a part of the festivities. That growth is continuing into Northern Europe and we are delighted to partner with OlyBet to bring the excitement and passion of the WSOP Circuit Series to Estonia for the first time in circuit history,” said Gregory Chochon, VP of World Series of Poker.
“I am thrilled to bring WSOP action to Northern Europe. The passion for live events is part of the culture and strategy at Olympic Entertainment Group and OlyBet. The WSOP legacy is full of exciting and historical moments, and it continues to be one of the world’s leading gaming brands. We are already hosting the largest poker festival in Northern Europe with the Kings of Tallinn, and we expect to go further with the excitement and thrills of having this WSOP Circuit event with the 12 rings and 1 million Euros guaranteed main event. Thousands of poker enthusiasts from around the world will battle to compete in Tallinn and take home the rings,” Olympic Entertainment Group’s CEO Corey Plummer said.
OlyBet Poker and the GG Poker Network will host satellites to the WSOP Circuit Tallinn all through the summer. There will also be live satellites in Olympic Casinos across the Baltics and Slovakia leading up to the event. In addition to the cash prize, winners of ring events will receive a World Series of Poker gold ring, which will also allow winners to enter the 2024 WSOP Tournament of Champions held in Las Vegas.

Number of Estonians Using Gambling Self-exclusion Services Rises by Nearly 36% in Five Years

The number of Estonians opting for self-imposed gambling restrictions has grown in five years from just over 14,000 to approximately 19,000. This represents a rise of nearly 36%.
Jekaterina Nikitina, head of the excise department at the Tax and Customs Board (EMTA), said: “In the past five years, the number of people with restrictions has increased by about 5000, or more precisely, by 4984 people.”
Restrictions can only be self-imposed by a gambler and not put in place by a family member or anyone else regardless of any problems the individual may be battling with – nor can they be imposed on all types of gambling.
Lottery scratch cards, for instance, cannot be subject to self-restriction, though use of most other games of chance including table games at online and offline casinos, the regular lottery, sports betting and skill games, including the various varieties of poker, can be voluntarily restricted, the EMTA said.
Once imposed and entered on the gambling restriction register, the decision cannot be reversed.
Nikitina noted that a person must choose a period of restriction of between six and 36 months, and must separately apply to be removed from the list once that time has elapsed. The restriction does not end automatically and cannot be terminated at will during the validity period.
Imposing the restrictions can be done via EMTA’s self-service portal. Gambling operators licensed in Estonia cannot permit people to play with them if subject to a ban, including a self-imposed one.
