Scientific Games CMO Jennifer Welshons Named 2023 Lottery Industry Hall of Fame Inductee
Scientific Games Chief Marketing Officer Jennifer Welshons has been named a 2023 Lottery Industry Hall of Fame Inductee, joining an elite group of global professionals. A pioneer in the area of analytics and insights, Welshons will be honored at a ceremony this fall during the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries 2023 Annual Conference. The Lottery Industry Hall of Fame is a prestigious recognition honoring those who have made a significant contribution to the global lottery industry and its contributions to good cause programs that positively affect the quality of life in communities around the world.
“Jennifer’s innovative marketing vision and committed leadership have impacted the global lottery industry in the areas of analytics, research, products, services, channels, and game categories. Her leadership, focus and integrity are embedded in Scientific Games’ analytical culture – the ‘science’ inside Scientific Games. Jennifer’s deep understanding of consumers, culled from thousands of research projects and sales analyses, has provided the industry with outstanding games and game portfolio performance,” said Scientific Games CEO Pat McHugh.
Joining Scientific Games 23 years ago, Welshons helped establish many of the analytical tools, methods, and metrics used across the industry today. Her innovation in market research and consumer insights has established Scientific Games as the global leader in lottery analytics and insights. Her teams have pioneered breakthrough player research studies and developed unique analytics platforms to provide insights on player motivations and behavior, game performance, prize structure, payout, theme, play action, and more. These insights are translated into actionable marketing plans to help lotteries generate maximum retail and digital sales.
As CMO, Welshons is responsible for global marketing and communications, including strategic product marketing, analytics and insights, business intelligence, company branding, advertising, customer and winner events, and global proposals – a critical component in the industry’s sales cycle to help drive sales performance and growth for the 130 lotteries the company serves worldwide.
Most recently, Welshons was instrumental in the company’s sale to Brookfield Business Partners and helped create and launch Scientific Games’ new branding as well as “The Science Inside” analytics initiative to raise visibility for the importance of data-based product marketing and innovation decisions to drive lottery performance.
As a member of Scientific Games’ Executive Leadership Team, Welshons takes part in the company’s major business operational and organizational decision-making. She is active in Women’s Initiative in Lottery Leadership and serves as a mentor to local students through Tech Alpharetta’s Women’s Forum STEAM Mentoring program.
Welshons holds a Master of Arts in Mass Communication and a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Florida. She is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Columbia University in New York City.

IAGR announces program for IAGR2025 conference in Toronto

The International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) has released the program for its upcoming annual conference, to be held in Toronto from 20-23 October.
With the theme ‘Resilient regulation: Exploring what works, why and what’s next’, the event brings together global regulators and thought leaders to examine how regulatory frameworks can evolve to meet today’s challenges.
The four-day program explores timely issues, including the rise of AI and behavioural analytics, the impact of converging technologies, cross-border collaboration and the continued push to strengthen responsible gambling policies.
IAGR President Ben Haden said the program offers a strong preview of the content and conversations delegates can expect in Toronto.
‘This year’s program showcases the breadth and complexity of the challenges facing gambling regulators worldwide, from protecting player wellbeing to tackling illegal markets and understanding new technologies,’ Haden said.
‘I encourage regulators, researchers and policy professionals from around the world to join us in Toronto. The conference is a space to learn, share experience, challenge assumptions and shape the future of effective, collaborative regulation.’

Edmonton Elks, Play Alberta Connect on New Partnership

Home field advantage has a new name, as the Edmonton Elks announced that Play Alberta Field at Commonwealth Stadium is now the home of the Elks.
The field naming rights are part of a broader multi-year agreement between Play Alberta and the EE, making Play Alberta the official sports betting partner of the Club.
“We couldn’t be more excited to expand our partnership with Play Alberta. This partnership is about more than just putting a name on the field – it’s about building something meaningful for our fans and our community. Play Alberta is an Alberta-based organization that shares our values and our commitment to giving back. Together, we’re creating new ways for fans to connect with our team and experience the game day atmosphere in a whole new way,” said Elks President and CEO Chris Morris.
The expanded relationship between the Elks and Play Alberta will allow the game day experience to continue to grow. Fans can look forward to unique activations and promotions around the stadium, including the chance to win game tickets and memorabilia.

The Elks open their 76th season on Saturday, June 7 in Vancouver when they take on the B.C. Lions. Edmonton’s home opener at Play Alberta Field at Commonwealth Stadium is slated for Thursday, June 19 against the Montreal Alouettes.

BCLC Celebrates its 40th Anniversary With New Scratch & Win that Lets Winners Give Back

BCLC has launched a Scratch & Win ticket that is a win-win for both the Top Prize winner and their registered B.C. charity of choice.
The Greater Good Giveaway ticket offers a Top Prize of $10,000 for the winner and $10,000 for their registered charity of choice, selected from a list of British Columbia charities on CanadaHelps.
Thomas D’Cruz from Richmond is the first Top Prize winner for Greater Good Giveaway. D’Cruz selected the B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation to receive the $10,000 charity prize, sharing that he “wanted to help children.” The winning ticket was purchased at Walmart on Alderbridge Way in Richmond.
There are over 12,000 registered B.C. charities on CanadaHelps for Top Prize winners to select from that support a variety of different causes, including arts and culture, education, social services and more.
